    Alternative fuels in Illinois

It is reported by the Associated Press, that Illinois State owned vehicles will all be able to run on fuel derived from Illinois crops in the near future. The Illinois governor has signed a bill requiring state agencies to purchase flexible fuel and biodiesel powered vehicles.

The chief sponsor of the legislation said the law would not only create cleaner air, but also a bigger market for Illinois corn and soybeans. Farmers will have more money to spend in their communities, and new markets will lead to the building of more ethanol and biodiesel plants, which would create hundreds of construction jobs. The new Illinois legislation also encourages state agencies to purchase hybrid vehicles.
